Smart contract

In shortA program stored on a blockchain that runs exactly as written when someone calls it.

Smart contracts hold and move funds by code rather than by a company. They power tokens, DEXs, lending markets, NFTs and DAOs.

"Code is law" cuts both ways: a bug can't easily be fixed, and attackers who find one can drain the money inside. Audits reduce that risk but never remove it.
