KuCoin Token review

Reviewed

Overview

KuCoin is a global crypto exchange founded in 2017 and known for listing many smaller tokens. Its KCS token launched the same year.

How it works

  • KCS Bonus: holders who keep KCS on KuCoin receive a daily share of trading fees.
  • Burns: KuCoin uses about 10% of its profits each month to buy back and burn KCS, with the goal of reducing supply to 100 million.
  • Perks: fee discounts, access to new token sales (Spotlight) and other benefits.
  • In September 2020, hackers linked to North Korea stole about $280 million from KuCoin. Much was recovered, and KuCoin covered user losses.
  • In January 2025, KuCoin pleaded guilty in the US to operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business, agreed to pay about $297 million and to leave the US market for two years. Its founders stepped away, and BC Wong became CEO. KCS rose after the settlement, as it removed uncertainty.

The KCS token

KCS at a glance
Supply (Oct 2026) about 142 million KCS
Target supply 100 million
Price (29 Oct 2026) about $7.47
All-time high about $28.83 (December 2021)
Market cap about $1 billion (#73)

Risks

  • Exchange dependence. Any trouble at KuCoin would hit KCS directly.
  • Regulation. KuCoin has faced action in the US and other countries.
  • Liquidity. Most KCS trading happens on KuCoin itself.

KCS vs. the competition

KCS BNB GT

Our verdict

KCS offers something few exchange tokens do: a direct daily share of trading fees, plus steady burns. But KuCoin’s legal history and past hack are real risks, and KCS is far below its peak. KCS is a high-risk bet on KuCoin: invest only what you can afford to lose.
