Validator

In shortA participant in a proof-of-stake network who locks up coins to propose and confirm blocks.

Validators need to keep a server online and follow the rules. They earn rewards for good work and are slashed for cheating or long downtime.

On Ethereum a solo validator needs 32 ETH; most people instead delegate to a validator or use liquid staking.
